About TrailsDirectory.com
TrailsDirectory.com lists 143,776 named trails across the United States so you can find hiking, biking, horse, ATV, dirt bike and snow trails near you and see what each one allows.
Where the data comes from
- USDA Forest Service: National Forest System trails, including which uses each trail is managed for (hiking, horses, bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, 4x4s, snowmobiles).
- National Park Service: public trails in national parks and other park units.
- OpenStreetMap: trails mapped by volunteers, including surface, difficulty and dog rules where they have been recorded. © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.
How to read a trail page
Lengths are measured from mapped trail lines, so a trail split into pieces or a loop can read differently from the sign. "Not known yet" means none of our sources record that detail. Rules, closures and conditions change, so always check with the land manager before you go.
Spotted a mistake?
Many trails come from OpenStreetMap, and anyone can fix them there. Each trail page links to its OpenStreetMap entry when it has one.
